What actually drives the cost
Size of the area. The more lawn and garden bed there is to clear, the longer it takes — straightforward, but worth stating since it's the biggest single factor.
How overgrown it is. This matters more than size alone. A large but well-kept garden can be quicker to tidy than a small but badly overgrown one — deep-rooted weeds, waist-high grass and dense overgrowth all take longer to clear than routine maintenance work.
